When I began working for Stranded Pakistanis, I thought this was such a clear cut, long
standing, grievous injustice done to an absolutely innocent community who gave their all to
their country. As soon as I provide a platform people from all over the world will join me. And
we will get justice for them. But no such thing transpired.
Yes, there were a lot of sympathizers, some gave limited financial or other help, but mostly it
was a lonely battle. I soldiered on days, nights, weekends, vacations. And finally filed a petition
on behalf of the plaintiffs under Article 184-3 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of
Pakistan. My voice and story of the Stranded Pakistanis wasn’t allowed to be even heard. While
far less deserving cases of violation of fundamental rights current and ancient were heard on
priority and su moto basis. I suspected bias of justice system against the Urdu-speaking
minority now it was confirmed.
I am not the only one dozens have come before me and did what they could or what they
thought was needed. I probably won’t even be able to list their name never mind what they did
or how successful they were. Following is a list in alphabetical order. If good is its own reward,
let’s hope that supporters of Stranded Pakistanis regardless of who they were or are, wherever
they live, find their good deeds rewarded disproportionately and without end.
